The Kowloon EP marks emergence of Logos, one of UK bass most anticipated producers, who was named recently by Fact Magazine as one of the hottest new talents on the rise. Much has been made of the belated recognition of Wileys 2002 eski sound yet few current producers have had proven capable of the deft touches required to both show deference to the Eskiboys vision yet also find a fresh, unique twist. But for his first EP on Keysound Recordings, the label that has had releases from both Wiley and Zomby, Logos unleashes four tracks of sublime eski funk. The A-Side presents Kowloon and Atlanta96, two glacial arp-jams that revisit Wileys effortlessly brave beatless devil mix idea, and both much supported in recent months by DJs like Dusk & Blackdown, Ben UFO and Bok Bok. The B-Side, whose label features a photo taken by Wiley of the very synths he used to re-wire garage, enters more percussive realms. King Mob VIP is like Kowloon in negative, the boney exoskeleton to the A-Sides fluid flesh. Finally Error 808 is 8-bar grime from a Swamp81 mindset, complete with a familiar-yet-twisted infectious vocal hook. Logos previous releases saw him in good company. 2008s Frontier Dub was remixed by Narcossist, a member of the Keysound family now better known as Kowton, and one third of the emerging Livity Sound with Peverelist. Logos full debut was Medicate, which featured a remix by LV, brought about after play on Keysound label owners Dusk & Blackdowns Rinse FM show. Logos makes 2012 devil mix trax that feel like club moment freezeframes, intense squarewave bangers in suspended animation. - Bok Bok, Night Slugs.
