Geddes layered into his nuanced take on deep house with a stripped-back, stylish melody that oozed mature house sophistication. Following up in a similar vein Again & Over kicks off proceedings with a techno-driven rhythm ruthlessly building in stature. A cascading bassline forms the fore of the beat while industrious rattle-shakes and chord remnants of Kerri Chandler’s Its You interpose momentarily in the background. As the track builds sirens grow in presence and juxtapose beautifully against a sprinkling of keys which intersect harmoniously at the breakdown while the hypnotic bass and ticking hi-hats kick back in and flow increasingly along. The opening track is a statement of deeper and darker intent from Geddes, taking a more low-key and retrospective approach. The insistent sense of energy and style manifests itself purposefully into What You Been Drinking; a more measured musical aesthetic of the LP. Prolonged key chords simmer in the background and ease the beat along against a flux of warped key chord sequences, penetrative kicks and a brooding female vocal hook which shadows the track and gives it a mysterious trippy-like feel. Wednesday Blues amplifies procedures further blending elements of Chicago/Detroit house with Dyed-esque rhythms into a satisfying whole. Coarsen
