New name on Antinote! All the way from Italia, Leonardo Martelli gives us four cavernous tracks.
Menti Singole opens with Filippo, a pure electro tune in which sad drum machines mourn for James Stinson, enshrouded in flangered synth waves. Next on the record is Francesco and you can hardly go deeper than this: Martelli blends throbbing kicks with melting synths and dusty hi-hats as if he was up for some kind of weird and twisted ritual. On the flip side, Leonardo takes us to an unsafe place where, far in the distance, ominous Badalamenti’s synths warn us of an imminent disaster. Marco is a perfect conclusion to this record; loaded with spaced-out vocal samples, this smoky track takes you on a mental trip that will probably not end when you’ll pick the needle off the record.
Menti Singole is for those who want to revive long wintery night. Just make sure to play it super loud.
