LadyMonix invites us to take one last look at ourselves in the mirror, grab our phone, keys & wallet, and strut unapologetically out of the house and into her second EP.
Created from her Detroit homebase, but inherently inspired and ruled by her mother city of Baltimore, this new record continues the dancer/dj friendly formula of her debut release, giving us something to play with at every stage of a night out:
"TRACK 39" (a nod to one of Monix's childhood heroes, DJ Boobie), grabs us by the arm and yanks us into the middle of the dance floor. Rashida's one-sided conversation with her object of desire and frustration fuses effortlessly with the original Princess Di vocal that we know and love so well, giving this seemingly untouchable classic a sultry update for a new generation of club kids battling with their own unrequited fantasies.
"MOMENTS IN PARIS" leads us down a throbbing corridor and into an early a.m. deep vogue. Whether backed-up against a wall or throwing shapes from a dark corner-booth; the satisfying finger snaps, handclaps, and flaming voices delight and tickle the ear - an undeniable seduction fit for the prowl...
"PUT IT UP" opens in a deceivingly gentle fashion, but soon builds into another B-side treat. Finally, an obvious flirtation comes to a head and a shameless dialogue commands us to rise to the occasion. BOUNCE, THROW, DIP - you better keep up, honey!
