The release opens with title track ‘Drop One’, taking on the format of the classic bass-line heavy energetic deep house. Devecchis combines sharp stabs, loose percussion and a deep vocal hook that connect to create rolling raw atmosphere. The Brothers’Vibe remix of ‘Drop One’ takes the mood in a polar opposite direction, pulling the tempo back and creating a hypnotic vibe start to finale. Renowned for his remixing skills the world over BV doesn’t disappoint as he craftily inter-weaves vocal loops and luscious pads over a haunting bass line. Chugging bliss. The B-side starts with the aptly titled ‘The Beat’. This powerful track punches and thuds its way through a combination of swinging percussion with cleverly placed off-stabs. The bass is heavy but the strings are smooth, combining to create a powerful contrast. The EP closes with ‘Now Or Never’, a track that wouldn’t sound too far out of place in the mid 90’s. Crunchy 909 drums, a bubbling bass and a 303 acid line that peaks in break-beat mid section, before cruising back in to a pad filled warm finale.
