This concert is a rarity: As part of the concert series "Jazz at the Philharmonic" a tour of Europe took place in 1960. Participants of this tour were alongside with Stan Getz and his band, the Oscar Peterson Trio as well as the Miles Davis Quintet. In Düsseldorf the Miles Davis Quartet was supposed to take part in a TV recording for the WDR. However, it never happened because Miles did not want to! He gave way to John Coltrane alone, who was now at the centre of this concert - which is now available on CD and LP for the first time. Of particular interest is the participation of the then probably most popular saxophonist Stan Getz, who joined in for the ballade "Moonlight In Vermont" as well as together with John Coltrane - and this a one-off which never occurred again - the piece "Rifftide". In "Rifftide" Oscar Peterson takes on the part of the piano from Wynton Kelly. First-time release of the legendary concert on LP (180g special edition); Advertisements in all major German jazz- and music magazines, e.g. Jazzthing, Jazzpodium, Fono Forum, among others; Reviews in all leading daily papers, journals and magazines; Radio programmes about the releases.
