Planetary Notions is a brand new record label and club night that aims to promote and release dance floor driven house and techno.
Headed by a trio of music aficionados with years of industry experience behind them, Planetary Notions aims to cater for both DJs
and listeners alike, through delivering high-quality music in its most desirable form: 140 gram vinyl.
Planetary Notions inaugural release comes from the hotly-tipped London producer Joe Rolét whose debut perfectly encapsulates the
labels ethos of delivering bass-laced custom-built club music. Title track ‘Green Aid’ kicks off the EP in fine style, combining elements
of space funk, cosmic house and Detroit techno. It is an impressive opener which sees cascading electro synths and a chanting vocal
sprinkled on top of an infectious swinging rhythm.
B-side ‘Sun Stone’ continues along a similar space-house tangent. Kicking off with driving percussion the track deftly builds,
combining robotic and far-out sounds, with warm pads and squelching stabs. The tracks falls into a well-executed breakdown, with
additional vocal fragments and soaring synths building tension until the track drops back into its hypnotic bass-heavy groove.
Overall the ‘Green Aid EP’ is a refreshingly charismatic two-track debut release, which lives up to the labels mission statement of
‘transporting listeners away to that unique place only club music can’. Firmly aimed at the dancefloor, the ‘Green Aid EP’ is a
distinctive and classy slice of electronic music, taking the listener on a rewarding inter-galactic journey through expertly crafted
underground sounds. A fitting first venture for the label and it leaves listeners eagerly anticipating Planetary Notions second and third
release both of which are scheduled for release later this year.
