Joakim Bouaziz is JOAKIM, main actor of the new, french electronic music wave. Emanating from the conservatorium, he took piano lessons since the age of six with the Master Abdel Rahman El Bacha. During his adolescence he discovers indie Rock to then emmerge deeply into electronic music, guided by Labels like Warp or Mo´Wax in the middle of the nineties. It is more or less coincedently that he shows interest for producing music, it was the day when a colleague from school forgot his synthesizer in his room. There he discovered new possibilities of sound and finally sends his demos to Gilb´R, founder and head of Versatile Records. After some months of work, Joakims first album “Tigersushi” was released in 1999 on the sublabel of Versatile Records, Future Talk, dedicating itself to experimental music. A playful album which contains numberous samples of sixties Jazz…In 2001, while still being a Versatile signed artist for his proper productions, he founds his own label Tigersushi with Artists like K.I.M., Panico, Principles of Geometry, Volga Select and the famous compilations “more GDM” and “Kill the DJ” initialised by Ivan Smagghe.Tigersushi is also an internet site with the same name, webradio and a real musical database. 2003 markes the year of his return with the album Fantômes. The tracks “Come Into My Kitchen” and ” Are You Vegetarian?” are raising a storm on the international dancefloors and enthuse the electronic music press. Joakim achieves to create a crossbreed of sounds and ambiances between underground punk of the eighties, electro pop, funk and ambient that never occured before. As an innovator, Joakim is also the first to come up with the concept of “Ciné-Mix” for his performances. His music also accompanied the film “La Chute De La Maison Usher” of Jean Epstein, since then he played memorable nights at the “Forum des Images ” but also in Tokyo, Montreal (MEG) or at the Mostra de Sao Paulo.Today, three years after “Fantômes” and loads of Remixes
