Formula Records introduces another newcomer to the stable for the second release in a row after Notion turned heads with his blistering Digits EP last summer. This time around label boss Champion turns his attentions to the mysterious Jamie Hustle - whose take on bass-led House fiercely remains true to the dancefloor-orientated ethos that Formula Records has operating by since its inception in 2011. With details on the producers identity and background scarce, he has left it to his productions to tell his story for him and the Pleasure Dome EP is a swift insight into his musical mind with two killer tracks of unapologetic bassline fuelled party-starters. Opener ‘Pleasure Dome’ is layered with pitch bent synths that aren’t a million miles away from a Sci-Fi movie soundtrack whilst the booming 4/4 drum pattern allow this one to fit neatly into House & Garage DJ sets without foregoing the immediacy of the UK Bass Music. On the B-side ‘One Objective’ has more of an anthemic feel to it with intermittent key stabs that lead into a drop of heavy duty kicks and claps that’s aided by a vocal sample with the tracks title in it - rounding off a storming introduction to the distinct sounds of Jamie Hustle, a hidden gem who looks like he won’t be just that for too much longer on this form.
