Dilla’s classic, out of print for over a decade, remastered from Dilla’s original mixes andissued on Pay Jay as a badge-shaped picture disc single for Record Store Day 2015.The Estate of James Yancey revived J.Dilla’s Pay Jay Productions as a functioningimprint and announced its release of Dilla's long lost vocal album, The Diary. But beforethat full-length is issued, Pay Jay now announces the final single to be released from theproject. It’s a classic in every way. This single of Dilla’s anthem was originally releasedas a standard 12”. That vinyl is now rare and out of print. On the Pay Jay issue comingfor Record Store Day, both the vocal and instrumental are sourced directly frommix-downs that Dilla himself created.This limited edition Record Store Day release is a badge-shaped picture disc single andfeatures Jeff Jank’s ironic take on Dilla’s message. The vinyl comes in a custom-madepocket inserted into a Japanese-style, resealeable clear plastic sleeve well suited for thecollectible this release is destined to be.
