Following on from their killer contribution to the Dreamthief 2 LP, 'Halcyon Days', the dynamic duo, Hydro and Halogenix, deliver yet more unmistakable quality on Horizons with this ultra-deep 12.
* A. 'Disillusioned', is a blissfully smooth roller, filtered down to simmering level, and driven by a deep, punchy bass, swelling sub tails and a snarling sawtooth. A crisp, clean drum line holds this one in motion, while subtle, lush pads hover in the background, with ethereal vocals fading in and out to create a serene ambiance. The second drop is a highlight, where tightly woven bass pressure combines with tough filter control of twisted up minor chords for an entrancing roll out.
* B. 'Trieste' is cloaked in a soothing and refreshing soundscape, with layers of cinematic, undulating mellow pads and keys, giving an immense emotional impact. The drop hits firmly via a thick and bulging 808-style sub bass, while hints of breathless female vocals and deeply filtered brass give detail to the top end of the mix. Hypnotic business.
