Originalversion + Dub der DjKicks-Exklusiv-Single!The only consistent thing about Hot Chip - apart from the uniform excellence of their tracks - is their ability to shock, surprise, delight and astound time after time. You never know what rhythmical journey theyre going to take you on - it could be playful, wayward pop, skewed hip hop, sun-dappled folk or mad, slow techno, and often its all of these within the space of one song - but you know that its going to be worth flicking your ears onto alert. A necessary companion piece to My Pianos frenetic melancholy, is the exquisite dub on the flip. Where the original is a little more together - well, relative to Hot Chip world, of course - theyve really gone as mad as yoghurt here. All swirling electronic flourishes - like light sabres swooshing through the air - it comes on like a joint collaboration between The Chemical Brothers (their famed dancefloor wiggle is truly evident) and Kompakts Michael Mayer (that nagging hypnotic beat that crawls under your trainers and keeps you stuck to the spot for hours on end). But then what did you expect? On their DJ-Kicks mix they jump from wonky electro-pop, Detroit techno, blissful downtempo, off-kilter house, hip hop, mellifluous drumn'bass, Rn'B, blues, jazz and Joe Jackson all in the blink of an eye. Whats to say they cant indulge all manner of moods across two versions of one very
