What do you need to survive a zombie apocalypse? If you're thinking ammunition and a safe place in which to hold up you might be wrong. The most essential thing you'll need is the ability to run, and run fast. Sort of like a horse. Not sure? Let Horseman convince you otherwise with Horsemove, the first single from his forthcoming album for Mr. Bongo, 'Dawn of the Dread'
Originally inspired by a horse race, Horsemove was written in 1985 and released under the title Giddiup. It proved a successful hit back then, spending four weeks at the top of the British reggae charts. This new version comes backed with production from Horseman acolyte Prince Fatty who updates the riddim for 2013 with a solid, bouncing bassline and a rejuvenated drum track. Horseman proves his lyrical dexterity with quick fire chats and invigorating chants turning the track into a dancefloor race starter and thus living up to his name - earned after chasing girls like a horse, apparently.
Horseman, real name Winston Williams, has been honing his drumming and MCing skills for close to three decades now and has worked with the likes of Tippa Irie, Max Romeo, Barrington Levy, Gregory Isaacs and Sugar Minot among others. For the last few years he'¼s been the resident drummer and MC for Prince Fatty and Hollie Cook.
The 7" release comes with a vocal and dub version.
