Gumnaam is inspired by the influences he found living and recording music in south- London. Originally based out of Haarlem he decided to leave his studio base in the Netherlands and moved to Berlin, Germany. Attracted by the rich underground scene, he finds fresh influences by crate-digging in the record stores and by hearing established artists and DJ’s play over there. The inspiration he found on his journey is reflected on this album on which he further explores his Riddim & Culture sound. Every track on the album stands on itself and has a different story to it. For example the vocals on ‘Soulfull Lullaby’ are sang in English but notice the vocals on ‘Galaxy track’ are in French, and the vocals on ‘What It Feels Like’ in Hindi. With this album Gumnaam shows there are no boundaries to his music, as the music is the language itself. Gumnaam stays true to his artistic inspiration when it comes to his music. Every track has been created from scratch. As Gumnaam has traveled and lived around Europe the tracks featured on the album have been recorded and created in different countries . As it comes to his style Gumnaam is very brief. “ I just record the sounds I really love and thru experimentation with different elements i aim to re-invent myself with every track I create”. After releasing several 12-inches and EP’s on his own Riddim & Culture label since 2010 and having his tracks featured on Big Dada and Ministry of Sound compilations, Dutch bass-music artist Gumnaam returns this year with his nine track debut album.
