Second release on DJ SOLID STATE's (SOCIETY RECORDS) new ALL OUT WAR imprint, and he's wheeled out the big guns !
Every Greg Wilson release tells a story, and this one is in the same tradition...
To mark the 6th anniversary of his famous 'comeback gig' at Music Is Better, Mcr, in December 2003, All Out War presents the Music Is Better Edits from UK Electro Funk legend Greg Wilson. Only 100 or so people were lucky enough to hear these edits get their clubland debut on a snowbound Manchester night in December 2003 when Greg cautiously took to the DJ booth the first time in almost 20 years, armed with laptop, vinyl and the Revox reel-to-reel that has since become a trademark.
Along with Danny Webb and the other Music Is Better residents, the other DJ playing that night was Society's Solid State, who was so blown away by Gregs comeback set he booked him for his very next gig in Sheffield. From these humble beginnings, Greg's profile has now grown beyond all recognition and 6 years on, Solid's new All Out War label is proud to finally bring these vintage edits to vinyl, in memory of the night that helped restart things for Greg after almost 20 years in DJ retirement. The Magnificent and Down the Mainline are quintessential GW treatments of Running by Information Society and Flash and The Pans Waiting for a Train, respectively, and have already reached a wide audience having featured on the famous 'Music Is Better' Mix CD. Now, at last, they can be enjoyed by other DJs and Greg Wilson enthusiasts. The release is dedicated to Danny Webb and Andy Odia, the original Music Is Better promoters.
