The highlight of this excellent EP from Spanish newcomers SAFT is undoubtedly Kastil's "Lay Down", a delicious trip into revivalist US garage territory. Simultaneously driving yet loose and groovesome, it sounds like a more cultured take on the pleasing revivalism offering by the Local Talk label. George Davis also impresses with "Feather", a deeper take on vintage New York deep house/garage featuring a poetic spoken word section. Shane Linehan remixes, delivering a take that emphasises the vocal and Davis's warm riffs and snappy snares. As first EPs go, New SAFT is a bit of a doozy.
