The fourth release out of Frankie´s full length album “World Of What“ features the tale of “Zumbi“ the slave. Zumbi was one of the last leaders of the Quilombo dos Palmeres. A Quilombo was a refuge of runaway slaves. The warriors became experts in capoeira, a martial arts form developed in Brazil by African slaves in the 1500s, due to forced defence against repeated attacks by Portuguese colonial power. Zumbi is still honoured by Afro-Brazilians today who celebrate him as a hero and a symbol of freedom. The 808-version of the album track “Zumbi” offers an unreleased mix by Frankie himself. It features the Bahia based singer Macaco and Vienna’s own Brazilian percussion wizard Fernando Paiva!
To honor Zumbi´s tale, we’re grateful for the contribution of two of Europe’s finest producers. Berlin based Henrik Schwarz is a long-time aficionado of funk, house, disco, jazz, techno and soul. Exploring those musical forms and pushing the boundaries in between is his humble mission. His adventures into hi-fi are truly amazing and pure bliss. Once again he´s blessing a vinyl with an enormous remix-treatment! And last but not least…back by popular demand, Enrico Volcov! Milano’s soulbrother with the midas touch, known for his outstanding production-work on projects such as Rima or his current Isoul8 on Sonar Kollektiv, drops a deep and growing house-rework in approved manner.
