Less Music is proud to present their next release, a limited edition vinyl-only 10" single and multi-media collaboration by Egyptrixx, alongside visual artists Datdatdat and Seripop, and indie band Ohbijou. The A-side 'Old Black' is a cover of infamous doom/drone pioneers Earth. Egyptrixx has taken the track from Earth's most recent album and worked the slow heavy riffs into glacial waves of synth gloss, retaining the leaden aesthetic but welding it to a rhythmic superstructure. Ohbijou adds layers of glistening vocals and the accompanying video by Berlin-based Datdatdat explores the notion of intentional aimlessness with its hypnotic textures. The B- side features a new track, 'Hiawatha' where a grinding, snappy groove gives way to cold electronic synth rushes and a tease of melody. Montreal-based design collective Seripop provides the characteristically impulsive sleeve artwork. We present this release not as a piece of music with complimentary promotional assets, but as a single creative statement of visual and sonic design. Egyptrixx is celestial club music, jeep music for a Saturn desert. There is an exhilarating right-but-wrong tension in all the tracks - a shifting balance between melodic and dissonant, rapturous and antisocial. His releases challenge the status quo and impress with a unique style informed by elements of techno, house, dubstep, pop and drone music. His debut album, 'Bible Eyes' was released in March of 2011 on Night Slugs to critical acclaim from Pitchfork, Spinner, Fader, and many others. TRACKLISTING: A: Old Black B: Hiawatha
