Interesting new label bringing you explosive jazz versions of two classic Dance tracks! Side X: Dumb Machine’s version of Theo Parrish’s Falling Up is based on the Carl Craig version of the track rather than the version recorded by Theo. Carl’s version, released in 2005, was one of the biggest dance hits of the 2000s and is now a recognised classic. Theo’s recording is still regarded by many as one of his signature tracks. Both Theo’s and Carl’s versions are instrumentals. Dumb Machines have introduced words. The word ‘falling’ is intoned throughout the track and the second stanza from Louis Macneice’s poem Snow is recited. Side Y: Written by Tori Amos. Dumb Machine’s version is based on the Armand van Helden remix. He created an irresistible dance groove, selected a few choice vocal samples, which became part of the clubber’s lexicon, to create one of the biggest dance records of the 90s. Dumb Machines hav e gone back to Tori Amos’ lyric, taken various lines from the lyric and cut and pasted them together. Pretty sensational first releases of this Third Ear sublabel!
