The 12" features two interpretations of ‘Dam’ from Djrum’s acclaimed ‘Seven Lies’ LP from Mancunian duo Akkord and Hidden Hawaii label boss Felix K. Both were offered the entire album to choose from, interestingly both remixers chose the same track. Akkord’s rework rides its broken beat to create what we would describe as Yardie Techno, as hard hitting kick and snare hits are augmented by the edition of lasers and other FX. Elevating the tempo at every turn, this is another fine example of the great things that happen when the Mancunian brace of Synkro & Indigo form under this guise. On the flip Felix K’s – founder of Berlin’s underground club night turned record label Hidden Hawaii – interpretation positions itself wonderfully somewhere between the Dub Techno sound of his native and Autonomic-era Drum & Bass. Healthy stuff.
