As his outpost for cuts outside the Plan B remit, DJ Spider enjoys a wider creative rein when he turns out some material for Sublevel Sounds, and so it is as he and Brendon Moeller trade tracks for a diverse four tracker. On Side A Spider's own "Maldek" fuses clanging industrial samples with a rugged house chug, and still manages to worm some warm chords into the mix to smooth out the edginess. His remix of Moeller's "A Species Of Pure Thought" is a gritty affair as well, submerging into a sludgy techno that bristles with dirty organic matter even as it charges straight ahead. Moeller's original version meanwhile is a masterclass in dubby minimalism, letting infinite reverbs and delays fill the void otherwise only populated by bleeps and drones. His remix of "Maldek" meanwhile takes the warm chords and chills them out in a hypnotic and dreamlike dub house refiguring.
