Following the success of JVXTA's Possible EP, Hardmatter finds the label drifting deeper into its roots: the after-hours sounds of New York house. Taking the reins for this release is Italian underground house selector DJ Soch, who is joined by Detroit mainstay and Hardmatter regular Javonntte. On HM005, the inimitable duo crafts a soulful vocal theme, Season, which they explore with four distinct mixes. Soch's Main Mix leads with a slice of classic house and late-night moods, while Javonntte's Swing Mix transforms Season into peak-time house bliss. On the B-side, with deep pads and sauntering xylophones, the Italian Stallion mix finds the producer in Burrell brothers territory. Rounding it off is the three minute original, a gorgeous folk-guitar ode to a season long-gone, fitting for a label who finds inspiration in both past and future.
