A record label specializing in cutting edge electronic music. Whether you are standing in the middle of the dance floor at a club, riding your morning commute in the train with your headphones on or finding new inspiration in the studio — music is able to completely break us from reality, providing a sense of warmth and comfort that gives us the energy to carry on. It is by this ethos that London-based DJ and artist Vass curates the newly-founded label The Comfort. Gloomy futurism, sharp snares, enthralling melodies and rich basslines, Dj Lo-Tek’s is Sohrab’s alias for off-kilter hardware based jams. The debut release for The Comfort is a contemporary dance EP in four stages. Music made with basic equipment in a low life area of town that, surprisingly, is in itself not so basic at all. The record kicks off with “Bonus Beats”, a uplifting track that is sure to capture those special moments on the floor that you can’t put into words. It follows up with the A2 cut “Reznet”, going into more emotive territory, driven home by a powerful groove. The flip side hosts “Powa”, the heaviest track on the EP, designed for peak time action: big, hypnotic and playful in all the right ways. Ending the record is the appropriately named italo-disco influenced “Amber Haze”, a showstopper for intimate and bigger rooms alike.
