Previewed in video form with a tremendous response from the DJ community, this is one of this summer’s most exciting releases. “Bright Lights, Dark Room” is a dark and luminous floor filler that engages silence as much as the reverberating sample bearing it’s name. DJ/Producer Derek Marin has been a major contributor to the sound’s progression and scholar of its roots since the age of 14. After founding Faucet Music in 2001, and later, sub labels Modest Music & Sideviewer Records he produced tracks and remixes under the monikers Modest D, Platonik, Sideview, Clockpunchers, Autopilot, Etadorpha & My Better Half. To experience his oeuvre is to hear the collected works of a diversely skilled innovator, and to witness how making the house rules equips you with the tools to break them down. Featured remixes include a playful touch by the hand of Ghostly International’s resident mad scientist , Osborne and one by Hans Bouffmyhre, the prolific young mastermind behind Glasgow’s Sleaze party and record label of the same name. While Bouffmyhre has established his ear for both unknown and established talent such as Andrew Weatherall, Funk D’ Void, Chloe, Radio Slave, Johannes Heil and Extrawelt who play by his side on the Scottish shores. Underground industry mainstays, The Pale, comprised of Subtrak Records’ very own Ryan Brogan and Christian Bloch, have taken the track for a revolution in the blender, pouring out a banging elixir ready for the floor.
