Norwegian duo De Fantastiske To return to London’s Black Riot Records with a stunning new EP including remixes by Alinka & Yam Who? Hailing from Oslo, the boys are analogue heads turned on by rhythm boxes and acid generators, much like fellow countrymen Lindstrøm and Todd Terje but with a feel more towards the classic US house of the early 90’s that inspires many of the new generation of producers and Boiler Room stars such as Palm Trax, Hunee and Young Marco .
We’re loving the modern tribal influences on the percussive Lettbeint which morphs the soundscape in to a far more upbeat big room track with a simple bassline underpinning synthetic calypso vibes and huge rising stabs. This one also gets a Yam Who? Treatment, keeping the calypso vibe but stripping it down to a more proto vibe with a new vocal hook and a subtle piano replacing the huge rave stabs.
Saharaball is an imaginary midnight drive with fierce percussive tribal rhythms as though emanating from where ancient cultures met from both sides of the Red Sea to trade spices, ideas and philosophies.
Chicago born Alinka is also included on the EP with her remix of Hardtslående, a fusion of influences can be heard in this remix, the original De Fantastiske To vibes had a certian early Murk meets Todd Terry, the original Black Riot to it, whilst Alinka takes this and layers it with the underground sound of her Current home, Berlin. This one’s for the Berghain all weekend party crew.
