“Elements from the Agile Experiments Manifesto”
Dogma 1 : Thou Shalt Have Spill
If you've had any experience with playing or recording live music you'll know that there is no match to the organic connection experienced by musicians when playing all together in the same room. Sure, it will limit the endless possibilities when it comes to treating the sound in post production but there is literally nothing like the atmosphere of a live performance without separation. All Agile Experiments performances are recorded in this way, maximising the potential of the musicians to merge in to the one sound, allowing for everyone (including the listener) to focus on what is most important : capturing the moment.
Dogma 2 : Thou Shalt Perform Consecutively As From The Starting Point
When you are cycling your drums around on a bike trailer because you can't afford a car as a result of pursuing the sound-art you are seeking, you may find that you lack the budget for spare drum skins in the studio. I tore a hole through my bass drum skin within 10 minutes of starting the Challenger/Somervell session but if we are going to capture true moments in time the red light must stay on. There is always talk of leaving space in the music but it is..
