Here’s a collaboration to bridge that unlikeliest of gaps between uplifting house and intricate classical compositions: Dan Snaith aka Caribou working with Canadian multi-instrumentalist Owen Pallett. The two tracks they’ve made here recall Snaith’s epic 2012 work as Daphni and are appropriately credited as such, with crisp 4/4 beats over jerky strings on ‘Julia’ and rattling, Spartan-like war drums drowned out by dub bass and horror movie sounds on ‘Tiberius’. A highly charged, highly original double-header that kicks down the genre rules as easily as it raises the roof.
