The follow up to gallery 001 sees a move into laidback house territory for these westcoast producers. Side A gets right to it with dante’s delightful Rhodes directing a 10 plus minute slice of bliss. His seemingly eternal solo rides beautifully on the nylon string guitar and organ bass foundation (both also played by tate) and the arrangement holds a few twists and turns to be sure, while the quiet kick gives it a uniquely laidback feel. With the whole mix coming from one of his classic sets at the mint restaurant, all that was needed was minor editing for volumes and actually the main challenge was how to fit all of the goods on to one side of a record! On the B side we have the smoking posties (t dhula & el molito) stripped down house treatment of a dante & dhula tune, in a basic style with chunky drums and a burly baseline dropping midway to feed the groove into the wee hours. A nice compliment to be sure.
