Born in Washington DC, Damu The Fudgemunk has been building a loyal fanbase through his soulful sample based productions, that are crafted from his mountains of records and MPC floppy discs. Damu made his official debut in the fall of 2007 on Tres Records, as the sole producer of Travel At Your Own Pace which sold out incredibly quickly and is today almost impossible to find. Since then he has released a number of free projects on his own label as well as being 1/3 of DC group Panacea. “Kilawatt: V1” is the first of three releases from Kilawatt Music?s new producer series. The vinyl version of V1 comprises of seven tracks, two featuring vocals from rapper Raw Poetic and three exclusive beats crafted by Damu, as well as two instrumentals. Only 1000 physical copies of “V1” have been pressed, and together with high fan interest and wide distribution we expect it soon to become a hard to find record worldwide, like many of Damu?s previous records! Each edition also features hand drawn design by Californian artist Ashkahn, inspired by the individual artists styles and songs. V1 also features guest illustration by London artist Kate Walton. On “Day By Day” Damu is joined by Virginia rapper Raw Poetic, who laces the song with double entendre, masterful flow and incredible breath control. Damu uses multiple layers of samples to give the song a unique depth, again showing his skills of manipulating the MPC. “Prosper” continues the collaboration with Raw Poetic and sees the more mellow side of Damu?s production incorporating live instrumentation alongside classic cuts and melodic samples.
