Having released on Shifting Peaks with label mates such as Trevino, Youandewan or Mak & Pasteman, modular synth aficionado CutOff!CutOff! is finally delivering his first wax on the Berlin based TOYS imprint. TOYS' affection for UK club sounds is mirrored in the EP's title track "Shifted" that nods towards the British dance music tradition with its ravey pads and vocal snippets amidst heavy hitting stabs. The drone sounds and gnarly synth of "Volatile" delve deeper into a sinister atmosphere. The relentless machine groove of this modern take on underground Techno is aimed at warehouses and basement clubs alike. "--##" is the track on the EP that was most obviously born out of jam sessions that characterize CutOff!CutOff!'s approach of his improvised live sets he plays in clubs. Demonstrating raw energy, it's an example of simple ideas constantly moving and evolving.
