CRYME kicks off his SEVEN imprint this November with the ‘Hold On’ single, accompanied by remixes from Cinthie, Obscure Shape, Lydia Eisenblätter and VOLPE. "SEVEN is a queer and FLINTA* leaning label that plays with the intersection of house and techno music. We love happy, uplifting sounds that set dance floors alight with smiles and love. Expect unexpected artist pairings, off-beat remixes and b2b’s that you won’t hear anywhere else." To put these words in practice, the first release is a five track EP entitled “Hold On” by CRYME. The original mix of ‘Hold On’ leads with a weighty low-end drive, saturated rhythm section and hypnotic vocal lines. Cinthie’s rework follows next, reshaping the original with her signature soulful House twist via choppy stab sequences, airy strings and a bumpy bass hook. Obscure Shape then shifts gears into Techno territory, fusing a robust drum workout with dubbed out fragments of the original’s keys and vocals. Opening the flip side is Lydia Eisenblätter’s remix, laying focus on crisp breaks, gritty rave stabs and pulsating subs before VOLPE’s interpretation rounds out the release, an ethereal dub techno journey employing spiralling dub echoes, a bouncy bass groove and heavily shuffled percussion.
