Welcome to the first edits release from the Hotbath imprint. Rumoured to be from the vaults of the Crazy P studio, forget boring 15 minute cosmic excursions of apparently ultra rare disco records, this series of edits shaves off the proverbial jazz beard and gives you a varied selection of tracks and re-works from classic disco artists to modern pop hits, all aimed with the coolest of dancefloors in mind. The first ep kicks off with a rather re-work of raw silk’s ‘do it to the music’ which uses only the beat and vocal of the original to which some very tasty musical elements are added. If you can’t groove to this you’re some kind of weird emotionless robot…… from the future. Backing that up is the equally juicy edit of Quincy Jones’s ‘Betcha wouldn’t hurt me’ which works that fantastic Q groove and takes it straight to the dancefloor. Changing tack for the flip we have a re-work of Raul Midon’s track ‘State of Mind’. Here, the original elements of acoustic guitar and vocals are bolstered with live beats, bass, strings and brass to give a truly uplifting mix. This is one for those summer-balearic moments when smiling from ear to ear is compulsory. Finishing off the ep in a curveball fashion is an edit of No Doubt’s ‘hella good’ which strips back the vocal and uses all the instrumental elements to turn this into a tune you can drop into any house set. Watch the crowd go…Come on, soap yourself up and jump in!! The water’s lovely.
