A double-pack release is a rite of passage for Tempa artists. Here TRG presents a milestone release twice over, not only his maiden Tempa double-pack but also a showcase of his shift in production style, which now has more in common with branches of house than traditional dubstep.
‘Twilight Riddim’, carved into the ‘A’ plate, is a riddim which forces you to jack your body in surrender to the shuffling drum loop. Screaming out to be let loose at 3am, it comes complete with raw and unforgiving crescendo to defibrillate the dance floor. Energy changes form with ‘Diskotek ‘79’ as TRG stays in the same arena but comes via a more soulful passage. Squelching chords and synth lines marry with rolling percussion to create swing and groove whilst female chorus vocals and revolving arpeggio combine to add a tingling high which runs the length of the spine.
Advance copies of these two cuts are already being battered around the world by DJs including Sinden, MJ Cole, Zinc, Zed Bias, Freq Nasty, Rob Da Bank, Tayo, Coldcut, Laurent Garnier, Mary Anne Hobbs and Modeselektor, highlighting the versatility of the cuts which are anchored by ‘Strobe Lick’, a luscious, warm sub-bass roller.
Now that we’re well into the information age, music is becoming harder to pinpoint geographically as boundaries become increasingly blurred. Here you’ll find parts of Berlin, Croydon, Detroit and of course Bucharest. Quality
underground music with no fixed abode.
