This L.A. trio call themselves Chicano Batman, and to Los Angelinos their sound may bring back to mind the kind of albums their parents throw out at a yard sale years ago, the type you find at countless thrift stores. Their sound brings together a mixture of pop and rock that many Mexican artists of the 60’s and 70’s admired, but without compromising their own cultural background.
Imagine one of the multitude of gruperas touring central California in a seventies Dodge Van. The band, dressed in matching baby blue ruffled dress shirts, decide to smoke some grass, drop acid and listen to Caetano Veloso and Televison's Marquee Moon. Chicano Batman’s debut is what their next gig might sound like, Baladas with space jams, pop songs with Brazilian breaks and flange drenched Cumbias.
