The German acoustic techno trio Brandt Brauer Frick comes up with its second EP on Tartelet Records, giving a foretaste of their highly exspected debut album coming later this year. “Paino Shakur” follows a rough and jazzy approach, featuring a minimalistic piano motif going mad, accompanied by sloppy drums, vibraphone and a heavy bass. The track perfectly captures the trios live energy they have proved on stages like Berghain, Mutek, c/o pop or Distortion. “Bop” is a piece that will be featured on the album, yet this is the video version in a slightly different arrangement and sound. “Bop” is an epic polyrhythmic monster that goes beyond all description. On the B-side, Tartelet and Brandt Brauer Frick have the huge honour of getting a stunning reinterpretation of “Paino Shakur” by one of their all-time-favourites Peter Kremeier aka Losoul. His remix is as hypnotic as house music can get and a massive demonstration of Losouls knowledge and musicality.
