For the first release on the More Soul label, we have killer covers of not one but two of the best-loved b-boy jams in history! Only released on a tiny French Label the album 'Incrédible Bongo-Rock' is the French answer to the infamous Incredible Bongo Band, their Anglo-Saxon alter-ego. The Bongo Rockers, directed by well known French session man Claude Dauray, delivers some huge massive funky bongo vibes with organ solo, including this massive version of the all-time breakers' anthem, 'Apache' with an inspired synth line instead of the familiar horns. Dope! On the flipside is the equally revered cut 'The Champ', originally recorded by Alan Hawkshaw’s Mohawks in 1968, and one of the most sampled songs in music history. This ultra-rare version by German session players the Pete Hilger Quintet rocks the dancefloor, and is definitely on a par with the Hawkshaw original, if not better. Just check out the bouncy organ solo! Wunderbar!
