Aficionado is a Manchester institution, a Sunday night session devoted to the musical miracles which many overlook. Moonboots and Jason Boardman have, over many long years at the helm, championed an endless list of lost classics and new delights. It's the very definition of Balearic, without genre or agenda...
For their second release on Aficionado Recordings the duo have selected Bodies of Water - Open Rhythms. Gentle vocal harmonies, cool beats, funky rhythmic guitar, a relaxed bass groove and swirling strings make this laid-back Laurel Canyon groove an Aficionado staple. Bodies of Water are husband and wife Meredith and David Metcalf from Highland Park, Los Angeles, Open Rhythms was recorded at their home studio in LA with a stellar cast of supporting musicians.
On the Flip Aficionado commissioned Paul 'Mudd' Murphy (Claremont 56) to remix the original version in his inimitable style. Paul has taken the original stems and channeling the spirit of David Axelrod, Richard Dorfmeister and King Tubby taken the original song into deeper psychedelic realms.
