BENGA RETURNS WITH FUTURE FUNK
The pioneering UK producer, DJ and innovator Adegbenga Adejumo, better known as Benga, has announced his return to music with a new EP titled ‘Future Funk’. Released on 26th February 2016 via his own imprint, the 3-track EP heralds a new chapter for the 29 year-old and finds him on better form than ever, ready to get back to what he does best.
Speaking about the new release, Benga commented, “It’s been two years and I have grown a lot, and I now know what’s important: music. I’m back and I think my sound is the most ‘me’ it’s been since Diary of an Afro Warrior and I’m super excited to play it and reconnect with all of the people who have supported me. Let’s have a good year!â€
‘Make Moves’, premiered by Annie Mac on her BBC Radio 1 show on Friday night, is the first taste of the new EP,
a muscular acid-flavoured exercise in skittering synths and icy vocals. The pneumatic title track and aptly named ‘Power’ complete the EP. It’s a welcome return from one of the UK’s best-loved electronic artists who has been making music for over 15 years – something not many people can say before their 30th birthday.
Benga will make his London live return with a DJ set at Fabric on Friday 12th February as part of a Tectonic takeover alongside Mumdance, Pinch, Acre and Ipman alongside MCs Sgt Pokes, Riko Dan and Koast.
