Electronic music composer Ben Lukas Boysen returns to the release schedule with 'Mirage', six tracks that showcase the producer and multi-instrumentalist at his very best, packed with contemporary classical overtures, jazz interludes, experimental electronics and more. As ever, this is all presented in a grand but precise vision, making for a real sonic adventure. Take 'Mendela', for example. Its reverberating low ends and combination of shrill and sedate refrains makes for a perplexing track. 'Venia' could soundtrack the world's finest symphony halls. 'Kenotaph' brings elements of progressive rock into the equation. Closer 'Love' is a huge, cinematic work of wonder that sounds as though it was made in another reality is meditative, lush, huge but personal in its impact. A welcome addition to an already impressive oeuvre, it's Boysen at his emotive best.
