The much anticipated follow-up to their Grammy-winning instrumental album 'The Mix-Up' from 2006, 'Hot Sauce Committee, Part Two' is the eighth studio album by the Beastie Boys.
The Beastie Boys have faced plenty of adversity in recent months, but fans will be glad to know that the legendary hip-hop trio still plans to release their brand-new album, 'Hot Sauce Committee Part Two,' on May 3, as scheduled.
The album was originally scheduled to follow 'Hot Sauce Committee Part One,' but after Adam 'MCA' Yauch was diagnosed with cancer, the group decided to postpone the record indefinitely. Speaking to the BBC back in February 2009, before he received the diagnosis, Yauch enthusiastically promised that the group's eighth studio album would take fans in a ''bizarre'' new direction. Once the bassist was diagnosed with cancer, the group's plans hit a roadblock -- but, as it turns out, they were far from derailed.
Ultimately, the Beastie Boys took all of the 16 tracks that were slated to comprise 'Part One,' and moved them over to 'Part Two' without changing the title. ''Although we regret to inform you that 'Hot Sauce Committee Pt. 1' will continue to be delayed indefinitely, 'Hot Sauce Committee Part 2' will be released on time as originally planned in spring of 2011,'' the band confirmed, in a statement.
''I Know It's Weird And Confusing, But At Least We Can Say Unequivocally That Hot Sauce Committee Part 2 Is Coming Out On Time, Which Is more Than I Can Say About Part 1, And Really Is All That Matters In The End.'' Says Adam 'MCA' Yauch. ''we Just Kept Working And Working On Various Sequences For Part 2, And After A Year And Half Of Spending Days On End In The Sequencing Room Trying Out Every Possible combination, It Finally Became Clear That This Was The Only Way To Make It Work. Strange But True, The Final Sequence For Hot Sauce committee Part 2 Works Best With All Its Songs Replaced By The Tracks We Originally Had Lined Up In Pretty Much The Same Order We Had them In For Hot Sauce Committee Part 1. So We've Come Full Circle.''
Included among the 16 new tracks is 'Too Many Rappers,' featuring Nas, which the group debuted during a performance at Bonnaroo in 2009. Also making an appearance on the new album is Santigold, who contributed to the track 'Don't Play No Game That I Can't Win.'
