For the past 6 years Art Feast share in their parties their passion for house music in Lyon, Paris and Berlin. Art Feast Records is the result of these few years, to highlight their beloved local scene of Lyon, and friends met on the road.
This is the fourth vinyl release, where AFR keeps exploring the wide universe of house music, this time with a deep and groovy touch. 4 tracks by 5 artists from sister cities Lyon and Leipzig. For this release they team up with the famous Leipzig based label Kann records.
A1 - MAP.ACHE - THE MAN WITH THE YELLOW SKARF (ORIGINAL MIX) ∙ W&P by Jan Barich ∙
Map.ache founded in 2008 with his mate Bender and Sevensol the Leipzig based music label Kann records that also for a couple of year became a record store. Since then as a producer, Map.ache definitely showed a great sense to build deep and powerful tracks, many of those masterpieces, has been released on Kann. The Man With The Yellow Skarf is a singular space journey. In this track Map.ache shows with a great sense of melody the evidence that there’s a wealth of galactic curiosities still to be uncovered. It’s all effective and interconnected with that bass groove and those sprinkles of keys.
A2 - QY - PROJECT 5 (ORIGINAL MIX) ∙ W&P by Friedmann Lichtenthal & Markus Gebauer ∙
Mysterious music producers combo, QY bio says everything in few words about the care they bring to their production, with a noticeable sense of post modern irony : “Here, in the Business Park Plagwitz Leipzig West, we unite craft tradition with modern and rational manufacturing techniques amidst an industrial setting. Mobility, customer care and the processing of qualitative products are always our first priority.” Carefully crafted music for challenging dancefloors. As house and techno continue their unabashed love affair with one another, QY continues to brilliantly deliver cross-genre tracks . Project 5 is perhaps best described as the musical equivalent of injecting a stimulant directly into your heart, and jumping on a vertical rollercoaster. Deep, acid and uplifting are most probably the most common words that are coming in our head to describe this infinite hypnotic loop, that catch our body from the first to the last second.
B1 - ORTELLA - 4 MY CITY (69800 LOOPDUB) ∙ W&P by Ortella ∙
Eventhough Ortella cultivates a rare sense of integrity and underground, if you haven’t heard about him yet, you can expect soon that this deep stuff will cause havoc and disruptions in clubs worldwide. Originally releasing on DJ Deep label, and more recently on Rutilance, Ortella is simply one of the best producer of the burning scene of Lyon, and prove it once again. Calling his track 4 My City, Ortella shows one more time (after his “Mad In Lyon” ep on Rutilance) his attachment to his city of Lyon. Here is one strong house cut with a dubby bubbles, deep chords and a metronomic barrage of robotic snares playing out over thumping kicks. Its confrontational minimalism makes it an intensely heady experience, but it’s also pure body music.
B2 - KLAAAR & JAYSPER - BLITZ (ORIGINAL MIX) ∙ W&P by Guillaume Klaaar & Jérémie Esperet ∙
Co-founder of Art Feast Records Klaaar was raised with the music of the 90’s New york and Chicago producers. Known as a music producer for years under many other alias, and a local music activist in Lyon, his aim by creating Art Feast Records is to highlight our beloved scene of Lyon. On this track Klaaar teams up with a new talented artist of the label, Jaysper, who brings brillant grooves and keys. Klaaar & Jaysper’s Blitz takes the EP in a perfectly enjoyable spacy and jazzy house dimension, with a powerful beat and groove where pads and rhodes synth give a the warm touch. All of it makes a kind of melancholy mix, but one that gets lifted up by a considerably brighter energy. A journey to the early hours of the morning.
