Altered Natives has been making some noise this last year, with his underground smash 'Rass Out', followed by a remix for Hyperdub and a release on Martyn's 3024 label. Other releases and remixes have followed, including the album's 'Tenement Yard Vol 1' and 'Serial Vendetta' on his own eye4eye inprint.
'The Tenement Yard Vol 1' are a series of experiments that were conducted in Native's Norf Lungdon Laboratory in 2009 fusing house, techno and dubstep combined with Natives unique production talents. We have here a sampler from the album, that's caught press and DJs attention such as, Kode9, Martyn and Paul Woolford to name a few.
The producer himself describes the inspiration behind the tracks:
'Oh My Zipper' is a piece inspired by a girl who was such a turn all i could say was "Oh my zipper!" and remember my journey home, aching crotch thinking thank fuck i didn't wear track suit bottoms. She knew what she was doing. haha!
'What Life Once Was' this track is semi related in story to 'A Thousand Days of Patience' it's about what my life once was before i became detached from propping up wankers and making my own moves. The use of this break was solely because in my opinion the UK owns this break. Jungle killed it, i wanted to use it without it sounding retread and tired, despite its heavy past use.
'It's just a Crush' was inspired by love, lust & personal infatuation. I tried to capture the nature of a crush or infatuation by bringing noisy beats to a obvious piano style, because the nature of infatuation is generally badly matched. Almost in the realms of impossible or ludicrous.
Look out for more from Altered Natives very soon...
