b1 Alex Coulton - Too Much Talk (Tessela Remix)
b2 Alex Coulton - Too Much Talk (Beneath Remix)
Ushering in 2013 92 Points returns with a trio of storming productions from three of the leading lights in UK underground music
today.
After recent outings on HypeLTD, dnuoS ytiviL and Idle Hands, Alex Coulton strips it back in the bassline and snare led affair that is
the 'Too Much Talk' original. Bangers don't really come more robust than this as the twenty year old brings together influences from
across the board to form this technoid, grime floor-filler! And although his attention is clearly focused on the perpetual gyration of the
dance floor the track has hidden subtleties that require a second and third listen!
On the flip side two of the most up and coming producers of 2012 settle into the groove of 2013. Firstly Tessela whose releases
on 2nd Drop, Punch Drunk and Audio Culture have shown his attention to be fully directed towards the rhythmical possibilities of
modern dance music. This techno, 'ardcore informed switch up of Too Much Talk is no different. Combining spacious kick drums,
junglist breaks and a heady synth laden breakdown his approach mixes the harsh and head-on with the lush and ethereal!
Bringing the E.P. to a close is Beneath. Having produced records for Tectonic, Keysound and his own No Symbols imprint this artist
who recently re-located to London draws for the eerie and the atmospheric in his treatment of 'Too Much Talk'. His understated
remix takes its lead from the darker strains of early DMZ, UK Funky and Grime to bring the listener a fully eyes down experience.
For the vinyl buyers among you the record comes complete with a swirling Sally Linsdell designed label. Enjoy!
