Du?sseldorf. A birthplace of Proto-electronics, Krautrock - and a band
called ‘AI’. One might expect such a heritage to be the rock of Tantalos:
occupying, consuming breath and energy. But fortunately, some ne con-
nections - to japan or the arts - supersede the rootage and allow for free thinking. Dinger-Beat and Groove propel their new album “AI” beyond the earth’s noisiness.
AI, the japanese word for ‘love’. And this love translates into musical freedom: dub meets trance, funk welcomes the repetition of electronics. “Alter In nitum”: At the centre of this universe resonates/vibrates/ oscillates an acoustic guitar; a voice escapes through the echo of a vocoder. On “Archaic Iftar” sounds of a balafon crackle onto the ground - fertelizing dreams of organic balance, of etheral harmony, of ... AI.
AI is also the acronym for arti cial intelligence. Some parts show cinematic appeal: James Horners “The Name of the Rose” mutates towards the theme of “Captain Future”. And let’s be honest: Is the moldering
“Voyager” NOT the true sound to ride the intergalactic waves on a surfboard?
